Our bodies change — sometimes, by the week. If your lifestyle shifts, so too could your physique. Games athlete Amanda Barnhart reminded us of this in an Instagram post, where she shared side-by-side mirror photos: one from shortly before Regionals and another more current one, taken after enjoying a few weeks off following what was undoubtedly a very competitive, grueling season.

I’m posting this because I want people see that it’s OK for your body to change throughout the year. On the left is a few weeks before regionals when my nutrition had been on point for many months and my training volume was high. On the right is from today – after 3 weeks off, lots of good food and drinks????, very little sleep, and life all out of wack. Moral of the story- even Athletes competing at the @crossfitgames don’t keep the exact same body composition all year round, so don’t beat yourself up if you have an “off” season. Feeling healthy and happy is what truly matters! I’m so excited to get back to my routine because that’s what makes me feel my best ??? #crossfit #strongwomen #strongisbeautiful #loveyourbody #dontmindmymirrorwriting

We must always remember that every single body is so incredibly different, and we’re all on our own journey. And Amanda’s post makes an amazing point: Change is inevitable and normal.

Taking breaks, cutting yourself some slack, and doing things in moderation help keep us sane. We’re all human — even pro athletes. Be happy, be healthy.
