Annie Thorisdottir is a symbol of strength. Through devastating injuries, through all the ups and downs, she’s constantly proven she belongs on the Games floor. Her consistency has secured her spots near the top of the leaderboard (if not the very top) year after year, and you can always expect big things from her.

Like all of us, fitness is her journey — not a destination. And that became all the more clear when she posted this epic then-and-now photo on Instagram. On the right is a snapshot from the 2009 Games, and on the left, 2016. Talk about making GAINS.

There’s also this gem from 2011. If anyone knows how to rock knee-high socks, it’s Thorisdottir.

Then there’s this pic from 2012, and it’s safe to assume their faces say it all. Yeah, we see you back there, Katrin.

Here she is in 2010, the first year she actually trained in the sport. Look how far she’s come!

It’s been a real delight watching Thorisdottir climb the fitness ladder year after year.
