Maddy Myers Had Wrist Surgery and Won’t Be at the IWF Championships

To the shock and dismay of no one, 20-year-old Maddy Myers was named as one of the female lifters set to compete for the USA at the IWF World Championships next month. Aside from dominating in the world of CrossFit, her monster lifts are something to talk about. Strong and fast, she gets under massive weight and makes it look easy. It was sad to learn, then, that Myers will no longer be competing at the World Championships after having surgery on her wrist.

Apparently, Myers experienced an injury earlier this year, not thinking it was anything serious. Her lifts certainly didn’t seem to have suffered, at least not from a spectator’s perspective. In fact, she just competed at the USAW American Open Series III.

But Myers learned she needed surgery, and ended up with screws and pins in her wrist. Like a true champion, though, she’s not letting it get her down. Here’s what she has to say about the whole experience.

We wish you a speedy and easy recovery, Maddy, and we know you’ll come back even stronger from this!
