The aggressive cuts at the Games this year, which started after a single event, caused quite a stir in the CrossFit community — and HQ listened. Armen Hammer revealed that he heard of a major change coming to the 2020 Games from none other than Greg Glassman himself. Next year, the first cut won’t come until one and a half days into the competition, which will include three classic CrossFit-style workouts that will be combined into one cumulative score.

This will give all the athletes who make it to the Games more floor time, which is important for truly determining who should move forward. It also makes the competition a lot more fair and reasonable for athletes who might have traveled from the other side of the globe to attend.

This year, so many athletes went home on Day 1, after coming so far and spending several thousands of dollars to get here. Later cuts would end up eliminating former champions who weren’t in the top 10 at the time.

What do you think of this change?
