2015 Reebok CrossFit Games: Ben Smith & Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir Fittest Athletes In The World
Three-time CrossFit Games competitor Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir and seven-time CrossFit Games competitor Ben Smith won the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games.
The Men
The Men’s side of the draw went down to the final workout, with Ben Smith edging out Mat Fraser to claim the 2015 crown. Bjorgvin Karl Gudmunsson, the winner of the toughest test of the weekend “Murph” clinched third in arguably one of the toughest competitions.
The Women
Katrin Davidsdottir surged on the final day to surpass fellow Iceland native Sara Sigmundsdottir. Davidsdottir who missed out on the CrossFit Games in 2014, redeemed herself in the ultimate way possible. Tia-Clair Toomey had an amazingly consistent weekend, with solid Top 10 performances on the final workouts to rocket into second overall. Sigmundsdottir, who is no doubt a champion in years to come rounded out the podium in third.
The Teams
Once again, Rich Froning rose above to claim his fifth title overall. Froning captained CrossFit Mayhem to the affiliate cup win, edging out CrossFit Milton and UTE CrossFit. The competition was heated in the Californian sun, with Invictus who were widely tipped to podium finishing outside the top 10. The story of the weekend however came from NorCal CrossFit. Miranda Oldroyd suffered a torn ACL on the Clean & Jerk event and was forced to withdraw from the competition. Without the lack of alternates to sub in, NorCal were required to complete the workouts with only 5 of the 6 members limiting their chances of success.
