Iceland Annie gave us all quite a scare when she revealed on Instagram recently that she underwent a procedure to address her heart arrhythmia. Thankfully, she’s okay, and based on her post, she won’t be pursuing any other procedures to fix the issue. See her full message below.

I have had a heart arrhythmia for the past 6 years or so. It has not bothered me that much in daily life, as it only happens every 2-3 months or so. This year it happened for the first time during competition – the caos event- so I decided to have someone take a look at it. This is something I have dreaded to do for a long time now so it was a big step for me to take. I went for a “surgery” this Monday. It’s crazy to think and experience what is possible with modern medicine. There I was lying on the table fully awake with 3 wires inside my heart getting pumped with Adrenaline – stress hormone and electro stimulation to get my heart beating fast enough. It was such a strange and honestly funny feeling to be there feeling like I was in a hard core training session while lying flat in a hospital bed. We did find out where my extra beats are likely getting produced but it is in a spot where I am not sure if I’m willing to take the risk to get it fixed. Everything went really well and we found out I have extremely strong heart ?? I am so incredibly grateful for the doctors and the nurses how sweet they were and safe they all made me feel. Now it’s back to full training in only 5 more days!!! This won’t slow me down ?? got my eye on the ?

We’re so glad she’s alright — but Annie, safety first! Take care of yourself.
