Big news coming from CrossFit! In a new Instagram post, they shared that they hope to bring this year’s Games back to Aromas, the original home of the competition. It won’t be a public event, and they’re still exploring options to take it virtual. But it sounds like they’re fully committed to making the Games happen, at the very least.

We remain fully committed to planning a live competition with live media coverage. At this point, we are concentrating on a competition in Aromas, the original home of the CrossFit Games. We are also evaluating options for virtual competition. We will continue to monitor events globally and will have more details for athletes and fans in the coming months. The Games will not be a public event. Due to sweeping decisions to ban large festivals and sporting events for the foreseeable future, we are suspending the on-site spectator experience for this year. For fans who have purchased tickets, camping, or hospitality packages, Ticketmaster, who holds these payments until after any physical event, will be issuing full refunds. CrossFit will be issuing full refunds to exhibitors. – Games.CrossFit.com | @CrossFitRanch #CrossFit #CrossFitGames #Fitness #FittestonEarth

This development is pretty huge, especially with the recent discovery that Alliant Energy Center might be used as an alternative care facility, meaning the Games could very well get booted from their current venue.

Castro said they were also considering postponing the Games or possibly canceling the event entirely. In these uncertain times, it could’ve easily gone that direction. But HQ has spoken, and the show will go on — one way or another.
