A strict pull-up is a goal for many of us, as is a kipping pull-up, as is a butterfly pull-up. Even just one would be amazing. Ben Smith is obviously on a whole different level: the CrossFit champ has mastered the art of the butterfly pull-up and can certainly do more than one. In fact, he can do 88 — unbroken.
He recently tackled the challenge, which was captured on video and posted on CrossFit Krypton’s YouTube page. Debate all you want about whether or not butterfly pull-ups count as “real” pull-ups, because it doesn’t really matter — doing 88 of any kind of pull-up is seriously hard work.

Accomplishing mega sets of pull-ups seems to be a favorite amongst the CrossFit elite, and they never shy away from the challenge. Camille Leblanc-Bazinet once completed 60 unbroken butterfly pull-ups in roughly one minute, rested another minute, then did another 29 or so.
These folks are seasoned athletes whose bodies can handle the physical stress of such a task. As for the rest of us? It’s probably best not to attempt this at home! In the meantime, keep working on that form, friends. One day, you might be a pull-up master too.
